Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Downey, CA, a city within LA County southeast of downtown LA.
Where did you go to college?
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Law, Politics, and Policy from California State University, Long Beach. I then went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Business Administration, focusing on Political Economy and International Business from the University of California, Irvine at the Paul Merage School of Business.
WHAT AREAS Of LAW and policy are you focused on?
I was a Policy Fellow for a nonprofit based out of Washington DC and Los Angeles, focusing on entertainment and telecommunications policy that impact the Latinx community. My goal is to ensure more Latinx are represented in front of and behind the cameras in Hollywood so that more of our stories are shared. I also work on telecommunications policy that focuses on ensuring the Latinx community has access to reliable and affordable broadband and that government holds social media platforms more accountable to stop the spread of hate speech.
where do you go to law school?
I’m a 3L at the University of La Verne College of Law in Ontario, CA.
what organizations do you support?
Some of the organizations I support include: Downey Arts Coalition, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Inner City Law Center, the National Hispanic Media Coalition, California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, Mexican American Bar Association, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and the American Civil Liberties Union.
what are you up to outside of work and school?
When I’m not studying, I enjoy volunteering with organizations that support arts, youth, and education. I am an avid photographer and runner. I also enjoy reading, playing sports and being active, traveling, and playing with my black Labrador, Scout.
